Project Explanation
This project is a comprehensive reimagining of the packaging for Pinegrove’s Skylight album, focusing on the themes of interaction, reflection, and despair. Drawing inspiration from indie and alternative album art traditions, the design employs a kinegram (an interactive visual device that animates as users manipulate the packaging) alongside abstract and symbolic elements like a mirrored tracklist and Rorschach motifs. These design choices visually echo the album’s emotional depth and lyrical ambiguity. The packaging extends into customisable merchandise and digital components, creating a cohesive and immersive experience that invites fans to personally engage with and interpret the album’s meaning.
